5 Reasons You Don't Have To Look Like a Victoria's Secret Model

5 Reasons You Don't Have to Look Like a Victoria's Secret Model

Many of you will understand the importance of this blog...and some of you won't. If you area girl, and watched the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, you will surely understand. We live in a world that's based around self image. Every store that we walk into has mannequins dressed perfectly to try to fit the perfect image or fashion statement (do I dare call it fashion?) that is popular in the culture. Needless to say, young girls and woman are getting a distorted view of what they should see when they look into the mirror. Do you know that eighty percent of girls hate the way that they look? We all have those days where we want to punch the mirror just because we don't think we look presentable...that's wrong.

Reason 1: You don't need to please anyone!

You are beautifully and wonderfully made by a God who created you exactly the way that He wanted. I know how hard it is in this world to go day by day without pleasing anyone. I am a people pleaser. I want to please everybody; however, that becomes very dangerous. Working yourself to the point of trying to look absolutely perfect before you step outside is not okay. You don't need to put on extra makeup or dress extra nice to try to make anybody in your life fall in love with you for your outer appearance. You are beautiful no matter what anybody says!

Reason 2: You don't need a perfect body!

Let's be honest...food is good! Cheesecake is irresistible...and life is crazy! When life gets crazy, we want chocolate! I don't know about you but I would rather be happy eating yummy foods than to be a size 2 with the perfect shape. It's not worth it! Let's be real...it's important to stay in shape for good health...but gosh darn it we don't need to look perfect! Those models out there are on strict diets that forbid them from eating sweets...they probably run like crazy...and they probably devote their life to their image...something that is nearly impossible to do!

Reason 3: You don't need a selfie a day!

Let's face it...why do we take selfies? We want living proof that before we left the house, we looked super fab! So...we post it on facebook or instagram! ...and then we wait to see how many likes and comments we get...because those determine your beauty? No. They don't.

Reason 4: You don't need a thigh gap!

Okay, who made this up in the first place? Thigh gap? Guys...we aren't chickens! We have legs. We have thighs. Some are bigger or smaller than others and that's perfectly fine! The thigh gap was just something somebody made up to measure a girl's weight. We don't need another measuring tool whenever we are made to get on the scale every time we go to the doctor. Ignore it...get comfortable in your own skin.

Reason 5: You need to focus on your health more than your image!

There is a point where you can be too skinny or too "thick" and it effects your health. Guys...this is the important part. Image doesn't matter, but your heath does! Being healthy is the key...that's what matters!

PRABE 10

Finals are over! Thank goodness! I can finally spend time in books again without feeling guilty because I need to study for other classes! It's a huge sigh of relief! During finals I found it difficult for me to read because my focus could not be within the book. This week I read The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. I read this for multiple reasons.

1.) I wanted to see the similarities and differences between the book and the movie.
2.) The movie left me hanging and I am not patient! ;) shhh...don't tell!

I am so bad about waiting for the next movie...and we all know that it won't be another year or so until we get to see the second part to Mockingjay.

I spent about an hour and a half in the book this week and I will continue it this week.

Overall, I liked doing the PRABE assignment because instead of just reading the material, I am discussing it within the blog. Also, the PRABE keeps me organized and I plan to continue it as I finish my college career.

PRABE 9

This week I read approximately 2 hours of material.

I know this is going to sound really childish but this week I got out my old Junie B Jones series. This particular series used to be my favorite in elementary school. I absolutely love all of them! I think I could relate a lot to her because I was always that goofy little girl who never really fit in. I always made everything a mess...but I also always had fun doing it.

Porn Destroys Love

There are many problems in the world and people are starting to recognize them. These problems are felonious which need to be stopped. A few examples of these problems are murder, rape, thievery, and human trafficking. Also, there are other problems that are breaking down the values of the family. Though they are not seen as criminal problems, these are big contributors to criminal activity. These problems consist of: adultery, lying, stealing, and aggression towards other family members. Although there are many contributors to these problems, they are all extremely influenced by porn making porn one of the main problems in today’s society. Because of the lethality of this problem, people should stand up to stop or reduce the access to porn making it harder for our children to access porn.

Pornography is when people display their bodies in a way that causes their viewers to become sexually aroused. When the body gets aroused, it sends a chemical into the brain called dopamine. Dopamine is what the brain releases for the body to receive pleasure. The chemical released is identical to the chemical that is released when a person uses drugs, drinks alcohol, or smokes. The problem is not that the brain releases this chemical because this process is completely natural. The problem starts when the brain gets used to that same amount of dopamine and it stops feeling the intensity of that pleasure causing the body to crave more. Once this process has started, a person has to do more and more of what they were accomplishing to get the same amount of pleasure; which is how a person becomes addicted.

The most common methods used to achieve the extreme amount of pleasure it takes to start to get addicted is: drinking, doing drugs, and watching porn and/or the act of using self-pleasuring methods to attain the greatest effect. Although all of these have the same chemical effect on the brain, when they are used wrong they can be dangerous to the user. The reason why porn is considered more of a problem is because it is easier to access than drugs or alcohol. Porn can be found in the forms of magazines, calendars, and internet web sites. The most commonly used form is the internet. The internet is used to access porn the most because, it is quick, it is at the click of a button, most of it is free, and any age can access it.

Porn is a topic that is very relevant in our society; however, nobody wants to talk about the extremity of it because of the shame behind it. Unlike alcohol or drugs, porn is an easy addiction to hide. Porn addiction is a struggle for this generation and many generations before now. Eight out of ten guys from ages 18 and under have been exposed to media porn in one way or another. It only takes one time to see porn to start a lifetime addiction that causes problem after problem. The ease of access of porn is an issue because anybody who has access to the internet has full access to the porn world. The door to the porn world is literally a click of a box stating that the user is 18 or over. After that, the user can access anything and everything that they set their eyes upon…no matter how old the user is.

Children are being pushed into the media world at a very young age leaving them with the access of the porn world in the palm of their hands. In this generation, children starting in the fifth grade and older usually get their first cell phone. For most children, this cell phone isn’t just used to text or call, it is used for apps, games, and web browsing. Within these apps and web browsing uses, children can find all types of easy access porn. Many applications are available on the iTunes store and on the Android Play Store that are filled with porn. Unfortunately, we live in a society where parent and child relationships are very distant. Most parents don’t have access to their child’s phone or web browsing history to check to see what their child’s eyes are seeing; therefore, there needs to be a way to stop the access of porn or restrict it in some way or another.

Addiction can start at a very young age. Many children who grow up in wrecked homes or children who feel neglected in a situation turn to porn for a pathway to a different world. This world is filled with gross, inappropriate, abusive, and distorted images and videos of sexuality in many different forms. Many different levels of porn are available to literally anyone which is causing most of this worlds marital problems, sexuality confusions, and identity issues.

Porn has a large effect on married couples. In many situations, porn distorts the image of a human leaving the sexual admiration of either spouse destroyed. Porn depicts sexual activity in such a way that is extreme and most of the time unhuman like. It can become difficult for a spouse who actively watches porn to become sexually aroused by their partner due to their distorted view of what the porn world has exposed to them. Also, a spouse that is actively watching porn is allowing the partner to become emotionally wrecked because the partner on the other end will think that they do not match up to the person or act visible within porn. Many times, porn will overtake a marriage and change the view of love for both people involved within the marriage. Many divorces occur due to this effect because the marriage will become off balance in sexual and emotional ways.

Porn also has a large effect on the sexuality of its users. Porn is a world that has access to many different doors. Once the user enters one door, the other door next to that one will become unlocked and it will become nearly impossible for the user to avoid entering that door. A porn user will start to look at normal porn videos of male and female. Videos and images portraying the “normal sex acts” of the human lifestyle are the largest porn source; however, there are other sources of porn that portrays other relationships. Homosexual porn and polygamy are examples of two extreme porn doors that are easily entered. Once a user continues to look at “regular or normal” porn, they will crave more. Sometimes craving more can mean that a user will start to explore other forms of porn in attempt to create a bigger arousal. In conclusion, the user will start to drift their view elsewhere or in many different places to try to gain more pleasure leaving them with a confusing view of their own sexuality.

Porn also has a large effect on identity issues. Most people know that the porn world is filled with images that distort the vision of reality. Girls and boys are both sold in a porn video to gain sexual pleasure to the viewer; therefore, the editor is going to attempt to accentuate the areas that gain the most arousal to it’s viewers. Obviously, this leaves a large problem within our society. If porn is being portrayed as a second world with better looking, unreal situations, with human actors whom are being accentuated in certain areas, how can users and the people associated with those users receive full pleasure in the real world? We are left with a problem that continually causes society to stumble.

The only option to stop the effects of porn is to either destroy it as whole or find a way to put a lock on the websites to assure parents, teachers, and religious leaders that their child is not being exposed to the second world. Most people don’t like the conversation of the porn world; however, it is a large problem that needs to be discussed in homes. We need to take a stand against porn. Porn is one large problem that is causing many different small problems to arise in our society leaving this generation to become a sex-crazed people who are continually looking for more.

PRABE 8

This week was actually pretty rough for me to get all of the reading minutes in; however, I read around 80 minutes.

I read a lot of children books to my cousins! Lord only knows how many of those I read. Most of them were princess books or just super random books that they had available. I love reading to children! During my summer job at Cowley County Mental Health I read many books to kids! They absolutely loved it!

I also read the Relevant magazine. This months description talked about going to the seminary and furthering education in ministry which is something I'm very interested in! It's my dream to teach across the sea doing mission work! So exciting!!

One Of My Life Changers

One of my life changers:

So, about 4 years ago...I was sitting in my car listening to all kinds of crazy music...Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Stefani, Shaggy, Destiny's Child...the list goes on. Needless to say, all of these singers/writers were secular who portrayed horrible messages. I couldn't turn my radio/ipod on without hearing something about drugs, sex, alcohol, disrespect, or just plain stupidity. But, it was what everyone was listening to...it was the "cool" thing to know all of the top billboard songs that MTV showed once a week.

I started realizing that what I was listening to was corrupting the way that I thought...the way that I handled situations...the way that I danced...the people I hung out with...everything. I was drowning in a bunch of gross media that made me a person that I didn't want to be. I never acted upon any of the songs that I heard or my life didn't change due to the songs; however, my brain was submerged with all kinds of filth. Those songs would run through my head day after day. It was like my mind was stuck in a jail cell full of enemies: lust, violence, insecurity, death, drugs, alcohol...sin. I would catch myself singing a lyric from a song, but then I would realize how gross the lyric was. Something had to change. Yes, back then I still listened to Christian music, but it wasn't my primary option. I only listened to it when I felt like it. I was an addict to the secular music life.

I deleted every secular song from my iTunes playlist...reset my car radio...and transformed my way of listening to music completely. I made a promise to myself and God that I wouldn't voluntarily listen to secular music for a whole year! Guys, my life flipped upside down. God used Christian music to change me. The House FM and KLove became my best friends in the car! I started downloading all kinds of contemporary Christian music that would inspire me to be a better follower of Christ.
I realized something: I didn't need secular music. I can find the exact same thing, the exact same style, a way better message, and REAL talent when listening to Christian music. I only listen to Christian music now...and that's 4 years later. It was a process.

I am thankful for Christian music and all of the artists that produce their gifts for people like me who have struggled with the urge to fall into the trashy scene of the secular life. Jason Gray, Brandon Heath, Bethel Music, Hillsong United, Sidewalk Prophets, Rend Collective, Jeremy Camp, Matt Maher, and Tenth Avenue North just to name a few of my favorites. :]

Now it's your turn, go into your cars...change your radio settings and start hearing the word of God through your speakers. Fix those playlists on your ipods...You won't regret it! 89.7 and 99.1 are my favorites.

Love ya guys!

PRABE 7

180 minutes of reading

This week I read The Man Who Loved Clowns. I remembered reading that book as a young child and I absolutely loved it. It's about a girl named Delrita who wanted to be invisible at her school. She hated who she was. Her uncle who had down syndrome changed her way of thinking throughout the book.

I have a huge heart for physically handicapped people; therefore, this book has always been close to me. Delrita's uncle changed her life; however, she didn't notice it until it was too late. Even though this book makes me cry every time, it's one I can't put down.

Fun fact: Delrita's uncle is named Punky...when I was little I named my cat Punky after him. :]

I also read a lot of Paul's letters in the New Testament. It always amazes me how much wisdom Paul had within his letters to the churches. I always find myself questioning the world as to why we don't revert back to Paul's letters to help us go back to following God.

PRABE 6

I read about 130 minutes.

This week I spent a lot of time by the fire reading. I reread my experiencing God book and I also read all kinds of things in the Bible. As opposed to other weeks, I read all over in the Bible in many different places. Most of those places were in Paul's letters. I always like to read his letters to bring encouragement.

Sunday, November 9, 2014

PRABE 5

Approximately 200 minutes of reading.

This week I read Luke, Acts, and some of Romans. I find it interesting that Acts is a sequel to Luke. I read Romans a lot because I believe that a lot of what Paul says in his letters should be applied to current life.

I also read most of Love and Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. This book is amazing and very insightful to how a Christian relationship should play out. I absolutely fell in love with this book and I couldn't stop reading it. I think that it is supposed to be a chapter per week study book but I definitely didn't follow those guidelines.

PRABE 4

Approximately 180 minutes of reading.

This week was pretty taxing for me. I found myself struggling this week with being extremely busy and I found myself wanting to read more and more at nights to calm myself down. I know this sounds crazy but there is nothing better after a crazy, busy day than a long bubble bath and a good book.

During these times, I like to read an inspirational book. This week I picked "Lost" by Danneh Gresh. This book talks about getting lost in God. While getting lost in God, you tend to find the true answers to questions that are frequently asked during life. I absolutely love this book and I highly recommend it to girls!

Also, I do my nightly Bible reading of at least 30 minutes. This week I focused on Proverbs with a little bit of Psalms. I absolutely love Proverbs...especially Proverbs 31!

PRABE 3

Approximately 130 minutes of reading.

This week I started reading an old set of books that I read when I was younger. Theses books were my favorite because I always learned something out of them. The Boxcar Children. I started reading the first one because that was always my favorite. The kids left their homes and went to live in a box car off of an old train. The kids face many obstacles within their time in the boxcar; however, it is such an exciting book full of many different adventures.

Also, I have been reading a couple of random books in the Bible. I have been reading Proverbs and 1 Timothy. I like reading these books in the Bible because they encourage me during the crazy times of our world. As a college student, I can really focus on these two books for helping me get through the day.

PRABE 2

Roughly 130 minutes of reading.

This week I read a fair amount of each of the four Gospels...Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. If you are familiar with the Bible, you know that these Gospels are talking about the same thing told in a different perspective. I believe that to fully interpret the whole story, you need to read all of the gospels and compare and contrast each of them.

In doing this, I realized that it took a lot of careful reading and at times rereading. I did this as a weekly study because it definitely took more than a couple of nights to comprehend all of it. I barely got to touch on John because John is the most different between all of the gospels. I have studied the gospels before but it was never a comparing situation.

Also, I finished Hatchet this week. Brian found an emergency transmitter in a bag on the plane and it didn't work very well; however, Brian began to flip the switch on and off and eventually a signal was sent to a station. A pilot comes and saves Brian. Through all of this, Brian's attitude is changed drastically and he has a better understanding of life.

PRABE 1

Roughly 160 minutes of reading

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful beginning to fall! Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons! I am writing to tell everyone that it is a requirement in one of my classes to read 90 minutes a week and write a summary of what I have read. I hope you will jump in this awesome journey with me! I absolutely love to read; therefore, this assignment excites me. Let the journey begin.

Being a college student has left me with a very tight schedule that has seemed to take away some of my reading time. It saddens me, but my classes require an abundance amount of text material that has to be read by certain due dates. I read nearly thirty minutes a night from my Bible no matter what and when I have time, I love to read other books that can expand my literature. I love a good challenge!

Last week I focused in on a lot of the Old Testament. Most people skip over the Old Testament because the material can present challenges on multiple levels. It's so exciting to me! I am a firm believer of the Bible and all of the stories it presents.

I read quite a bit out of Genesis and Haggai. Totally random, I know. It had been awhile since I had read Genesis. I find the creation story so interesting. Just the fact that there are two presentations of the creation stories blows my mind. I read about Noah...Abraham...studied multiple covenants...and I started to touch on the sacrificial system.

Also, on a completely different spectrum, I read half of Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. So far, this book is really awesome and it is hard for me to put it down. Brian, a boy whose parents just divorced, was off to spend the summer with his father. He was the only one on the plane besides the pilot. While flying to the destination, the pilot has a heart attack leaving Brian to fight for his own. Brian has to figure out what to do with the plane and how to survive when the plane lands in the water.
Throughout all of this, Brian has a hatchet that basically saves his life multiple times. The last part that I read in the book is that he got attacked by a porcupine. I am still waiting to see if he gets rescued.

New Song! "Wrong Love"

Hey guys! So I wrote a new song! I will post a video later but I think these lyrics are super strong so I wanted to share it with you guys! I hope you like it!

Chorus:
There is a love that's waiting for you,
better than that boy that you thought you would never lose.
There is a love that's waiting for you,
that has the power to rebuild you and break the chains that are holding you.

Verse 1:
People wonder where you can find this love,
they don't understand that it's found in the Son.
Everybody searching in the wrong places,
the media is shoving a fake version in our faces.
So fake that it leaves us broken hearted,
pushed me back further than when I first started.
Giving me a new focus that leads to eternal life,
praying that someday God will make me a Proverbs 31 wife!
This focus you see has nothing to do with me,
I was bought at a price with a very high fee.
Jesus died on the cross to cover up my sin,
so that through Him, I could be whole again!

Chorus

Verse 2:
Chains that are completely holding you down,
all of God's people can see past the frown.
You don't have to hide your sin any longer,
confess it to God and you will become stronger.
Some chains are held tighter than any of the others,
especially the ones who are becoming new mothers.
People judging them left and right,
some are tired of it and give up the fight.
Where is this love that we Christians boast about?
A love that should be overflowing, but is nearly a drought.
We are missing the key within this word,
love isn't only an emotion but also a verb.
Without God, there is no love,
pure love can only come straight from above.
If you claim the name of Jesus, you better check yourself.
Are you only a Bible that sits on the shelf?
If you want to make a change you gotta move your feet,
show God's love to everyone you meet!

Chorus

Swimsuit Trama!

Some of you are probably thinking that there is absolutely no way in finding that "perfect" swimsuit. Well, to be completely honest...you're probably right! Let's think about this for a second.

We walk into any store...

Wal-Mart for example. What kind of swimsuits do you see? Almost all of them look like they should fit my childhood dolls. They barely cover anything! I mean, the colors to choose from are endless but they all look like a skimpy form of lingerie...unless you want one of the old lady onesies (you know exactly what I'm talking about). If I had a daughter, I wouldn't want to see her in any of them.

I got tired of trying to be cheap and searching at Wal-Mart so I ventured to the mall. I thought I would have more of a choice...boy was I wrong. I mean, yeah...the types of swimsuits were more diverse; however, none of them covered my desired pirate areas (we say pirate because my little cousin doesn't quite know how to say private). Unless I was willing to spend over $100 for a swimsuit, I was out of luck. I kind of just picked a few that I thought were the most appropriate and went with it...and here is my problem.

I had this jacked up concept that people knew my beliefs and knew my morals and standards so the chosen swimsuit I decided to wear wasn't going to change my story. What was I thinking? There is absolutely no way in heck I would walk out of my room in just my bra and underwear...so what makes this swimsuit any different? And then...God convicted me.

On a beautiful starry night I was sitting on the trampoline with one of my dude friends talking about God and how amazing He is. We talked for hours and then suddenly we arrived on the dreaded topic for most people...MODESTY. We talked about how it is such a struggle for girls to be modest and how we have the ability to bring a presence into a building (pool) just by the way we dress.

Our conversation continued with him saying this (Caitlyn version) "I could never be a lifeguard because girls run around half naked all the time and I would never want to give myself the opportunity to look at them in such a way that I may be cheating on my future wife." and then I was like..."oh snap".

I'm not sitting here judging any of you girls for wearing those bikinis and such...because I WAS one. I was that girl who chilled on the side of the pool in a skimpy little two piece...looking rather sketchy. Let's be real here for a sec! If we are going to a pool to swim...we want to actually SWIM and jump off the board! With these skimpified triangular cloths with strings attached tied around us...we can't even jump into the pool without the pad thingys getting all scrunched up or maybe even having an underwater flashing period...not to mention the dreaded wedgie.

What message are we sending to guys wearing such things? You might get attention from guys...but I guarantee you it won't be the right type of attention that you truly want. I have heard a male's point of view on this topic and I promise you one thing...the males who actually want a long-term, healthy, Godly relationship...want you to cover your body!

What do we do to solve this?

1. Spend the extra to get that cute swimsuit that covers your body appropriately. Cha Ching! $$$

2. Just wear an extra shirt or tank-top and shorts over your swimsuit to make sure you're not having a coming out party. YIKES!

3. If you wouldn't want to see your future daughter wearing the swimsuit you picked out...change!

4. If you wouldn't wear it in front of your pastor...don't wear it in front of your friends.

Be careful and make yourself presentable! You never know who is watching...modest is hottest!

Mirror Mirror

As you look into the mirror, what do you see? A person you have grown to hate? A person who in your opinion is fat and full of flaws? A person who has a horrible past and who thinks there is no hope for his soul? A person who has a broken heart and feels lost in this world so resorts to porn or adulterous acts…to try cover up the hurt? A person who looks for happiness within the world using drugs ...and alcohol to create a misconception of reality? A person who has been abused and could care less if death was right around the corner…a person who needs a SAVIOR. No matter how bad your self reflection within the mirror is, God is ready to intervene and expose you to a new beauty, a true beauty that comes from within…the beauty of Jesus who died for each and every one of us personally. You don’t have to hurt anymore. Be done with the old you and allow God to create a new version…a purified you…an imperfectly perfect saved human being living selflessly in attempt to further God’s Kingdom. THE CHANGE.

The 5 Struggles All Girls Face

Living as a Christian girl in this generation is really hard and would be impossible without the help and love of God. I have faced many giants in my walk with God just because there is so much pressure in being a Christian girl. There are 5 topics that have affected me the most.

1. Modesty

Being modest has always been an obstacle for me. Surprisingly, I have always been aware of modesty; however, I didn't change the way I lived until I was about 18. Wearing low cut shirts, booty shorts, or just showing too much. It's so hard finding a swimsuit that is modest and presentable. I struggle with this every summer. 1 Timothy 2:9 states "Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire". Clearly, it is important for women to dress modestly. Also Matthew 18:6-9  talks about how important it is to not be a stumbling block to another person. As I prayed and let these verses sink in, it hit me. For me to go out in public wearing a bikini that only covered the obvious areas, I was being a stumbling block for every guy who saw me. Not because I'm a super model (because I'm far from it) but because of men's curiosity of the woman's body. If a woman is out in the open wearing hardly anything, a guy is going to look and lust over that woman. Matthew 5:28 states "But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart." I don't know about you...but I don't want to be the reason a man is committing adultery.

2. Purity

Purity is such a marvelous thing that many girls lose at a young age. Call me old school but I know that saving yourself until marriage is a priority. How amazing would it be to be able to tell your husband that on your wedding night you had saved yourself just for him? In this world, girls are crazy if they haven't had sex by the time they are 18. To me, that is so messed up. For one, not having sex is the best form of birth control. Also, having sex before marriage causes unneeded tension and feelings within a relationship. There really is nothing good about it. Sex was meant to be a beautiful thing. People of the world have made it into such a bad thing...it's okay as long as the marriage covenant is present. Committing adultery is also a sin. 1 Corinthians 1:6-9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality..."

God is a forgiving God. If you have lost this amazing gift...ask for forgiveness and turn from the sin. God will restore. 1 John 1:9 states "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

3. Relationships

Your 20 years old they said....find a guy and get married they said...you need to start a family they said...you're going to be alone with a bunch of cats they said! NO! I am living for God. When the right guy comes along I will know without a doubt because God is writing my love story. Currently, I am only on the first page of that story. The first page starts off with just me and God....strengthening our relationship. He needs to be first and I need to fall in love with Him. Eventually, in His timing, if it is His will...He will provide me with an amazing guy with the same God focused heart as me. I am loving every second of our relationship. As girls, we don't have to constantly be in a relationship that we know will only break hearts. What is the point of being in a relationship when you know that the ending is going to come in time. There is no point!

4. Success

All of my life, I have had one thought in my mind...I need to succeed, I need to prove everyone wrong of me being just a random girl in a big world. I have had the thought of success engraved in my mind. I have come to realize that the only success I need to focus on is making it to heaven and bringing other with me. As a college student, this can be one of the hardest mindsets ever. In all reality, I could die right now and my worldly success will mean nothing. Everything that I have stored up in this world will not matter. Even the thoughts of people won't matter once I'm dead...but the thoughts of God will determine life or death. Matthew 6:25-33 and Jeremiah 29:11-14  state to not worry about tomorrow because God already has a plan for you and He will make a path.

5. Media

I saved this point for last because I believe that it affects every aspect of a Christian girl's life if we allow it to. Music...movies...commercials...celebrities...computers...there are negative influences everywhere telling us to do drugs, have sex, go party drunk, YOLO, go twerk with everyone who looks at you, you have to be a certain size to be hot, your image needs to be the first thing you think about, be crazy, show as much of your body that you want, girls are only sex figures that don't deserve respect....these are just some of the many lies that all forms of media are blasting in our faces. We have to stand strong and realize that there is so much more to a human life than image...we are blessed with other forms of positive media that we need to focus our attention on. Christian music has become so popular. Instead of listening to Jay Z, Macklemore, and Eminem...listen to Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Bizzle, or Trip Lee. Instead of watching rated R movies...watch cartoons, Fireproof, Courageous, or anything that has a positive influence within your life. Instead of watching MTV...watch Lifetime or Duck Dynasty. I promise you could tell me any form of media that is bad...and I could match it with a form of media that is just, if not more, entertaining than the negative influence that is causing pain in your life. You may not know that it is causing you to fall...but it is! I used to be a huge MTV fan until I realized that what was coming out of my mouth and what my eyes were seeing didn't glorify God. Be careful little eyes what you see...be careful little ears what you hear! BE CAREFUL!

I hope this brought encouragement to you! I am constantly praying for those who read my articles. If you would like me to pray or just need someone to talk to, I am always here with love! ♥
